Why Your Business Feels Like It’s Not Working (Even When You’re Doing Everything Right)
Your business feels steady, and you have had some business mentoring and now:
You’re showing up, trying different things, putting the time in. Not perfect, and not without the odd hiccup, but things are moving in the right direction. You know what you’re doing. You know what matters. Decisions don’t feel as heavy as they used to, and you’re not constantly going back over the same things. The weight is lighter on your shoulders.
There’s space to think.
You’re not carrying everything in your head all the time, and your business no longer needs your attention every minute of the day. It fits around your life more naturally now. Whether that’s working a few hours a day or structuring your week differently, it works in a way that actually supports you.
There’s a rhythm to it.
You’re not pushing, stopping, starting again or trying to go all in just to feel like you’re getting somewhere. Things feel steady. Manageable. After having some business mentoring, they’re building into something.
When Your Business Doesn’t Feel Like It Fits Together
Most people don’t start there. They get there after a period of trying to make things work. Showing up consistently. Trying different approaches. Taking advice, joining workshops, adjusting things, changing direction, then changing it back again. From the outside, it can look like progress. But:
- You try a new strategy.
- Some decisions do not work out.
- You start to wonder if you’ve missed something along the way.
But more often than not, it is not True. You have learned some new skills and valuable lessons. But inside the business, it often feels like you’re holding a lot together without anything properly fitting together. You’re moving, but not always moving forward in a way that feels clear.
The pieces of your business are there, but they are not fully supporting each other. It’s not that you need to do more. It could be:
- Your messaging might not quite reflect what you actually do.
- Your offers might not feel as clear or connected as they could be.
- The way your business is structured might be taking more energy than it should.
Nothing looks obviously broken in the business. But it does not quite fit together either. So instead of things flowing, everything needs more attention than it should. Everything is feeling harder and more frustrating.
This is often where business mentoring becomes useful. Not to add more, but to help you make sense of what is already there and see what is no longer fitting properly.
Why Doing More Is Not Fixing It
When things feel off, the instinct is usually to do more.
You rewrite your messaging.
You try a different platform.
You follow new advice.
You tweak the website.
You look for the missing answer somewhere outside yourself.
It feels productive. Like you are moving.
I have done all of this myself.
But often, it just creates more noise.
More ideas layered on top of each other.
More directions pulling you in different ways.
More decisions to rethink.
More pressure to make something click.
Instead of things becoming simpler, they start to feel more tangled. This is where business mentoring helps bring things together.
What Happens When Things Start to Come Together
This is where business mentoring comes in. Not as more advice. Not as more to add.
But as space.
Space to step back and look at your business properly.
Space to work through what’s there without trying to fix everything at once.
Space to see what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs your attention.
Now
- You are not rewriting everything every few weeks.
- You are not chasing every new idea.
- No longer looking for someone to give you ideas of the next step, the one that will bring it all together.
Business mentoring for women often brings a different pace to that process as well. There’s less pressure to perform. Less urgency to get everything right immediately.
More room to think. More room to understand what’s going on.
When You Can Finally See What Matters
That’s where things begin to shift. It will not suddenly change overnight.
But because things start to make sense.
You can see how the pieces fit together.
You can see what matters and what no longer does.
You stop carrying everything on your own, and decisions begin to feel clearer because you’re not trying to hold it all in your head at the same time.
- Your energy improves.
- Your thinking sharpens
Your business starts to feel like something that works with you, rather than something that constantly needs your attention, even when you are not working.
When You’re Not Doing It Alone Anymore
When we start our own business, many feel we have to carry it all on our own and work it all out by ourselves. I did this mostly because I felt ashamed that I was not moving as fast as others around me were. Or I just was not understanding fast enough what I was meant to be doing.
You are not meant to carry all of this on your own. This I learned the hard way but once I got it, I moved so much faster along my Business journey, and it was great to talk to others who were in the same boat as me. I found so many women feeling the same way at different stages of their business journey, and once they started getting help, they felt they were no longer:
Alone in every decision.
Reduced uncertainty and started to build their confidence.
No longer felt the “what am I missing?” moments.
When you have space to talk things through with someone who understands how business works, something shifts.
You’re making bigger decisions.
You are not holding everything in your head.
You are not trying to piece it all together alone.
You start regaining your passion for your business, and see the future you are working towards begin to unfold,
There is a steadiness that comes from that. You go from pushing harder to working smarter ( I know, so cliché, but it really is true). You are no longer alone, and that’s why business mentoring for women early in your business journey is so helpful.
Where Business Mentoring Comes In
This is really where business mentoring can make a difference.
I get it, there is so much advice out there, and it can be so difficult at times to see if it’s right for you, but a lot of the advice starts at what I call a level 3. Where you know or have a much clearer idea of where you want the business to go, how you could be doing it, and have more ideas on who your ideal client is, the product or service you want to sell. Even a clearer idea of your messaging.
The level 3 advice helps you tidy it up, plan a strategy, and grow. Don’t get me wrong, there are some amazing coaches and mentors out there, and you’ll be jumping into those challenges at some point, but when you are at a level 1 and 2, you need a different level of mentoring. One that fits and meets you where you are right now. This is the stage most people get stuck in.
Business Mentoring for women at your pace
There is nothing wrong with your business, and there is nothing wrong with you. When you find the pieces of your business start to fit together at the level you are at, everything changes for the better. So what on earth am I talking about?
Here is what I discovered
Most businesses move through stages, even if you don’t consciously think about it that way. In the earlier stages, it can feel like you’re holding a lot together at once.
Level 1
At the beginning, you’re in the stage where everything is new. You’re setting things up, opening accounts, putting the foundations in place. You’re trying to show up, work out what to say, understand how everything fits together, and at the same time, actually build something that works.
A lot is happening all at once. Everything feels important because, at that stage, it is. But it also means your energy is spread across everything, and it’s hard to know what actually matters most.
Level 2
Then you move into the next stage. You’ve got something in place. You’ve started showing up. You’re beginning to shape your offers and think more seriously about how your business works.
But this is often where things start to feel more frustrating. The excitement may be dwindling at this point, and start having thoughts of
- What am I doing here?
- Why did I start this?
- I need to look for another job.
- This feels impossible.
You will know yourself what your doubts are.
But now it’s not about starting, it’s about making it make sense. You might find yourself going back over the same things.
Adjusting your offers and your ideal client.
Tweaking your messaging.
Trying to bring structure into what you’re doing.
This is where a business mentoring session at your level will make the difference.
Getting to level 3 business mentoring
This is where many of the level 3 Business mentoring assume you have an idea, but you may be finding it hard to figure out, and that is not on you, it’s the levels that have not really been gone through enough, but help is out there. This is why I started to focus on levels 1 and 2 business mentoring for women.
I noticed when I was going through it myself, there was not alot of help out there but there is more about now but unlike me other business mentors or coaches specialise in one part where I have decided that one part was not enough because a business is not just one section, it not just messaging, it not just a service or a funnel, there is so many moving parts that need to fit together and this is what I help with.
So instead of adding more layers and offers, we look at what you have and talk through what you need and what is no longer useful at this time.
Getting business mentoring help at the early stage or even at any stage can be one of the most productive ways to grow your business in the way you want. It is your business, and talking to a business mentor can help clear out the old thoughts so there is room for the new and forward thinking.
Looking to take your Business to the next level? This is where business mentoring can support you. If your business feels like it’s almost there, but not quite coming together, this is exactly the stage I help with.
